MTS Group sees net income rise 35 percent in Q3

(TP) Operator group Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) saw its revenues and net income jump in the third quarter. Revenues went up 23 percent to USD 2.22 billion from USD 1.79 billion in the third quarter last year. OIBDA rose 22 percent to USD 1.17 billion, versus USD 962.8 million, with an OIBDA margin stable at 53 percent. Net income was up 35 percent to USD 655 billion from USD 486.3 million. Strong usage growth in Russia has been a key revenue driver for the group, CEO Leonid Melamed said. The company added approximately 3.3 million new customers during the third quarter, of which 2.4 were added organically. MTS ended the third quarter with 77.97 million customers in total. In Russia, MTS had a leading market share in subscribers of approximately 33 percent. In Ukraine, the company’s market share was 37 percent. MTS’ market share in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan was at 54 and 86 percent respectively while in Belarus, the market share was 54 percent.
