Korea ends 2007 with 43.49 mln mobile users

(TP) Korea ended 2007 with 43.49 million mobile subscribers, up from 40.197 million at end-December 2006. The penetration rate stood at 89.8 percent, according to a factsheet from operator KTF. KT Freetel recorded net adds of 89,000 during December, a marked increase from the past five months when net adds only reached a high of 51,000 (September). KTF has a total customer base of 13.72 million. Rival SKT ended December with 21.97 million mobile customers after adding 152,000 new subscribers while LG Telecom won 61,000 new subscribers to bring its total to 7.81 million.
