Published January 4th, 2008

(TP) US-based mobile operator Verizon Wireless and mobile banking and payments enabler Firethorn now offer a m-banking service to customers of Wachovia, SunTrust, FirstBank and BancorpSouth. Customers of these financial institutions can now check bank account balances, transfer funds between accounts within the same bank, and review and pay bills for those bills already set up through the financial institution’s online account service. The service is based on a Firethorn application that utilises both PIN and device lock-out capabilities. Customers will need to register with their financial institution’s online banking service in order to use this mobile banking service. The Firethorn application is now available on several phones from Verizon Wireless, including the Chocolate and enV by LG, LG VX8700, LG VX8600, LGVX9400 and the Samsung SCH-a950. The two companies intend to make the application available on additional devices in the coming months.
